MUMBAI: As the world's largest consumer of gold in 800 tonnes per year and one of the largest buyers of silver in the 2500-3000 tons, India feeling the pinch record precious metals prices. With gold having touched Rs 22,060 per tola (10 gm) on Friday and silver increases even more rapidly in Rs 69,410 per kg, the gold market has shrunk for the exclusive benefit of investors.
"Marriage markets currently underway are reduced to 10-20% of what is to be used even a year or two. Middle-class families or re-establishing old models or sell old jewellery buying new pieces, "says Sejal Chacha who performs a marriage Bureau in Bandra.
